Golf Tips for Beginners – The Swing and More

1. The first question that we ask beginning golfers is: how often do you play? The best results come from plenty of hours out on the green. If you really want to improve, there is no way around this – you have to hit lots and lots of balls to change your skillset from “beginner” to “intermediate”.

Pro golfers don’t relax on long holidays before a tour. They spend countless hours in different golf courses, honing their skills and polishing what they already know. You don’t have to spend a lot of cash just because you want to practice.

Sure, the fancier golf courses can cost you anywhere between $200 to $1000 per game. If you have the cash, then by all means, enjoy these luxury courses. However, if you are like us (and 90% of all new golfers), then spending $500 on a single practice game is out of the question.

Does this mean that you are limited to practicing “phantom swings” at home, with no actual golf balls? No. You can practice an actual game of golf by finding cheaper golf course. Sure, the golf course may be outside your city and may even require a few hours’ drive.

But once you find an affordable golf course where you can practice all day without worrying about going broke after a few practice sessions, you’ve found golfing gold. So follow our sage advice – find an affordable golf course and tee off like there’s no tomorrow!

2. Do you have problems hooking the golf ball? If you do, don’t despair as this is one of the most common technical issues that players encounter. Even the more experienced golfers still hook their balls on some occasions.

You can remedy your swing by changing your body’s positioning just before you hit the golf ball. First line up your feet, shoulder width apart so that the foot nearest the ball is about 1 ½ feet away from the golf ball. Look straight at the golf ball and rotate your body all the way to the right.

Your left arm should cross your chest while your right arm should be at a 90-degree angle. Swing down and let the golf club hit the ball from the right side. If all goes well, the tip of the golf club should end up at approximately the same spot it was in before the downswing.
