Learning Golf Swing Basics the Right Way

Anyone can swing a golf club and hit a ball that has been set on the green. However, not everyone can get a hole in one or conquer a particularly difficult spot on the green with the fewest strokes possible. Golfing requires that you develop a variety of elegant, sporting skills. Image Credit: Golf, Tee, Golf course, Golf clubs, 300×200, markusspiske, pixabay.

Without these skills, which can only be learned with consistent practice, golf would not be fun at all. Like any other sport, you have to practice regularly to conquer intermediate golfers in your circle of friends/colleagues. Today’s golf swing tips will help you achieve golfing perfection (as long as you keep practicing!)

The Perfect Golf Swing

1. One of the most essential elements of golfing is balance.  You will not be able to play a good game of golf if you do not pay attention to your body’s natural balance. Why? Because each swing in golf requires that you transfer energy from your upper body all the way down to your golf club as it swings downward and upward once again.

There is going to be a lot of torque involved and if you don’t have ample balance, you are going to end up falling about with each swing. Physical balance can be improved through low-impact exercises such as prone hip rotations, hip swings and by carrying out movements that challenge our stabilizer/core muscles.

Our core muscles are located just below the ribcage and they are responsible for ensuring that you are able to bend, twist and carry stuff with ease. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the role that their core muscles play during a game of golf, so there is often no specific training regimen for the core.

Consult with a certified fitness trainer as to how you can begin a special physical program that will help you achieve more in golf. It should be noted early on that not every physical workout or exercise can help improve your golfing skills, so you have to be very specific when consulting with a fitness trainer as he/she would know the right exercises that will help you achieve that powerful and accurate swing every time you tee off.

2. Many novice golfers ask us about generating sufficient power for a good swing. Some even ask us if being a bit more muscular would help generate more power. Well, muscle mass can help increasing swinging power but most of the power that you need during a swing is generated throughout the body not just by the arms.

Beginning golfers need to understand that a large portion of the energy during a swing is actually transferred energy that emanates from all parts of the body. This is the main reason why you should practice turning and rotating your upper body during a swing.

This partial rotation is enough to give you all the power you will need for an accurate and powerful swing. The more you turn, the more power you will have during the actual swing. However, you also have to take into account your physical limitations when turning and how well you can balance yourself during the actual performance of the swing.
