Honeyed Mango Delight

Ingredients:

•    One cup of crushed ice
•    One and a half cups of ripe mango (try to source Manila mangoes or honey mangoes for best results)
•    One cup of ripe peaches
•    One tablespoon of organic honey
•    One small banana
•    One cup of yogurt (natural flavor will do)

Steps:

You will need at least two mangoes to fill one and a half cups; feel free to add more to taste. You have two options to get to the meat out of the mango: peel it, or slice it into three pieces. If you want to slice the mango into three pieces, simply position your knife near the point where the fruit joins the stem and slice beside the seed.

Do the same for the other side. Scoop out the meat of the fruit and place in a small, non-reactive bowl. Freeze the mango for an hour or two. Next, slice the small banana into strips or chunks. Combine the sliced mangoes, bananas, and crushed ice in your food processor.

Next, add one tablespoon of honey and one cup of yogurt. Don’t forget to spoon the honey on top of the solid ingredients, and then mix it in before pureeing. Puree the mix for at least three minutes before checking the consistency. If the consistency is already smooth and fine, feel free to pour and serve.

The Slimming Mango Smoothie

** The acai berry is a popular ingredient in smoothies because it contains antioxidants and some people have attested to its ability to aid in weight loss.

Ingredients:

•    Two cups of acai berry (pureed products are widely available in the natural health market)
•    One cup of honey mangoes
•    Half a cup of freshly squeeze orange juice
•    One cup of crushed ice

Steps:

Peel the ripe honey mangoes, and place the meat of the fruit in a bowl. Freeze the mango slices for a few hours. When the mango slices are ready, combine all of the mangoes, one cup of crushed ice, and two cups of the berry puree in the blender. Pour in the freshly squeezed orange juice last.

Puree all of the ingredients until the acai berry has mixed well with the mango slices. This should only take about two to three minutes since mangoes are very soft, and you do not have a lot of solid ingredients in this recipe. In the even that you cannot find any acai berry puree, feel free to use blueberries or raspberries instead.
